Over 1,000 Students Paint Pictures Of Brunei, China Jointly Fighting COVID-19

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Nov 25 (NNN-ANN) – Organised by the Chinese Embassy in Brunei and Brunei’s Ministry of Education, the awards presentation and exhibition launching ceremony, of a painting competition themed “Together We Fight the COVID-19” were held here yesterday.

A total of 1,022 students from 53 primary schools across Brunei, participated in the competition, who painted vivid pictures of China and Brunei joining hands to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

Thirty winning entries were selected, including two Grand Prize winners, three First Prize winners, five Second Prize winners, eight Third Prize winners and 12 Encouragement Prize winners.

Brunei’s Minister of Education, Haji Hamzah, praised the students’ imagination and said, the students’ active participation in the competition would help consolidate and strengthen the long-term friendly and cooperative relationship between Brunei and China.

Yu Hong, Chinese ambassador to Brunei, said in her speech at the ceremony that, China and Brunei have enjoyed a traditional friendship of long history, and the joint fight against COVID-19 in 2020, has given new connotation to this friendship.

“Working together and supporting each other, we have overcome great difficulties,” the ambassador said.

It is hoped that through the painting competition, the students will be able to cultivate the concept of love and mutual help and carry forward the spirit of cooperation between the two countries in the fight against the pandemic, she added.– NNN-ANN
