LONDON, April 16 (NNN-ZNBC) -- More British companies have shown interest to invest in the exploration of oil in Zambia, says Minister of Commerce, Trade and Industry Christopher Yaluma.

Following the launch of oil exploration activities in Luapula Province and Northern Province by Tullow Oil, a British oil company already producing oil in some African countries, more foreign oil exploration firms are eager to invest in the sector here, Yaluma said here Sunday.

He observed that Zambia still has oil blocks which are not yet committed to potential investors and as such the country is ready to receive investments in the oil sector.

Yaluma, who is in London for this week's Commonwealth summit, said Zambia will take advantage of the business forum at the summit to woo investors from other Commonwealth countries.

Yaluma is part of Vice-President Inonge Wina’s delegation to this year’s Commonwealth summit which begins Monday. -- NNN-ZNBC
