BANGLADESH PM INAUGURATES NEW COMPOSITE BRIGADE FOR PADMA BRIDGE

DHAKA, Bangladesh Sept 19 (NNN-BSS) -- Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today expressed her firm determination to build an efficient, disciplined, well-equipped strong armed forces.

Terming the national armed force as the symbol of the country's unity and sovereignty, she said her government has a very clear and transparent outlook about the armed forces.

The Prime Minister said this while addressing a Prime Minister's Darbar of members of Bangladesh Army at 20 BIR training ground at Dhaka Cantonment after raising the flag of newly established 99 Composite Brigade.

The Prime Minister said the present government after taking office in 2009 has taken all pragmatic programmes, as best it can, for development of the armed forces.

The efforts for development of the armed forces would continue, she said.

The 99 Composite Brigade has been established comprising 20 Engineering Construction Battalion, 58 East Bengal Regiment and 34 Bangladesh Infantry Regiment to monitor the implementation of the Padma Bridge project and maintain security. -- NNN-BSS
