BERLIN, July 11 (NNN-IRNA) -- Head of Foreign Policy Commission of European Parliament Elmar Brok underlined that Iran has the right to use peaceful nuclear technology.

He also said the fatwa (decree) by Irans supreme leader that using nuclear energy non-peacefully is prohibited, can be a good base for access to an agreement with the west.

He made the remarks in a meeting with Iran’s Oil Minister Rostam Qassemi on the sidelines of the Energy and Security Conference in Frankfurt, Germany, on Wednesday.

Referring to the presidential election in Iran and viewpoints declared by the President-elect Hassan Rohani, he expressed hope that situation for taking positive steps toward cooperation between Iran and the west could be prepared.

He also said exchanging parliamentary delegations to achieve objectives are very effective and useful.

Qassemi said that Iran is always ready for understanding with all countries upon mutual respect and said that with the new president, who is a politician, theologian as well as aware of international relations, we will welcome dialogue in a logical framework.

Qassemi, who arrived in Frankfurt on Wednesday morning to attend “ Energy and Security Conference” in Frankfurt, departed the city for Tehran late Wednesday evening. -- NNN-IRNA
