MEXICO, July 22 (NNN-Prensa Latina) -- Mexico's federal public safety secretariat on Saturday announced the detention of Benjamin Valeriano Jr., chief of Juarez Cartel, in the exclusive residential area Lomas de Chapultepec.
According to the newspaper Milenio this version contradicts the stance of city authorities, who repeatedly have refused that drug lords live in Mexico City.
In a statement quoted by the newspaper, the SSP said that Valeriano Jr. is allegedly one of the chiefs of the criminal organization led by Vicente Carrillo Fuentes, Viceroy.
Benjamin Valeriano Jr. moved to Mexico City, from where he controlled drug transfer operations, after the arrest in 2011 of Jose Antonio Acosta Hernandez, El Diego, leader of La Linea, the armed wing of the Juarez cartel. -- NNN-PRENSA LATINA
