CAF RESCHEDULES DRAW FOR AFCON 2013 TO OCT 24 IN DURBAN

ACCRA, Sept 18 (NNN-GNA) -– The Confederation of Africa of Football (CAF) has rescheduled the official draw for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations tournament (AFCON 2013) to Oct 24 in Durban, South Africa.

According to a CAF statement, the event has been moved forward by 48-hours from the initial date, but no reason was given for the latest development.

The draw will see 16 teams, including hosts South Africa, being drawn into four groups for the finals of the tournament which would take place from Jan 19 to Feb 10, next year.

The tournament would be staged in five South African cities, namely Johannesburg, Port Elizabeth, Nelspruit, Rustenburg and Durban.

Zambia won the 2012 edition held jointly by Gabon and Equatorial Guinea after they beating Cote d’Ivoire on penalties in the final. -- NNN-GNA
