INDIA CELEBRATES INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE GIRL CHILD. Mumbaiís Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) railway station was lit in pink supporting the day on Oct 11, 2017. International Day of the Girl Child or Day of the Girl is celebrated on Oct 11 to raise awareness about gender inequality faced by girls in the society. It highlights the inequality against women which prevails in areas such as the right to and access to education, nutrition, legal rights, medical care and protection from discrimination, violence and forced child marriage.
