INDONESIA: INCUMBENT JAKARTA GOVERNOR CONCEDES DEFEAT IN ELECTIONS

INDONESIA: INCUMBENT JAKARTA GOVERNOR CONCEDES DEFEAT IN ELECTIONS. Incumbent Christian governor of Indonesia's capital Jakarta Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or nickname Ahock conceded defeat to Muslim backed candidate and former education minister Anies Baswedan in elections for governor of the capital. A representative selection of votes surveyed by several pollsters, showed Purnama on 42 percent and Baswedan 58 percent. The official tally from the run-off will be announced in the first week of May, but the so-called quick counts have accurately predicted past elections. Millions of Indonesians in the capital went to the polls to elect a governor on Wednesday after a polarizing campaign. Photo courtesy Agencies
