CAR BOMB KILLS SOUTH YEMEN POLICE CHIEF

CAR BOMB KILLS SOUTH YEMEN POLICE CHIEF. Bystanders gather around a car bomb ripped through the car of a senior Yemeni Police Chief Colonel Abdullah al-Mouzai, the head of police in southern city of Aden on 19 July 2012. The explosive was stuck to the side of the vehicle and went off as Colonel Abdallah al- Mouzai turned the key in the ignition, said a police source. A medic said that Mouzai was "seriously injured and taken to the hospital where he succumbed to his wounds." The police source blamed al Qaeda for the attack. "Al Qaeda elements placed the explosives in the colonel's car," he said, adding that Mouzai had previously survived four assassination attempts in Aden as well as in the neighbouring Lahij province where he used to work.
