INDIA’S ASSAM FLOOD DEATH TOLL NOW REACHES 77. Assam Forest offcials rescue an adult deer from a flood-affected region at Bagori range of Kaziranga National Park in Nagaon district of Assam, India .A government report said that more than 2,000 villages across 27 districts in the state were hit by the floods and around 1.9 million people were affected on 2 July 2012. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and United Progressive Alliance chairperson Sonia Gandhi are scheduled to visit the flood-affected areas of Assam where floods and landslides have so far claimed about 77 lives.
