SOUTH AFRICA’S ZUMA OPENS ANC PARTY CONFERENCE. President Jacob Zuma stands behind the ANC's centenary flame at the opening of the party's national policy conference in Midrand north of Johannesburg, South Africa on 26 June 2012. The flame was placed in the center of the podium where President Jacob Zuma delivered the opening address. The torch has traveled to some parts of the country before arriving in Midrand. Its final destination is Mangaung, South Africa where the party's elective conference will take place in Dec. Zuma is calling on his African National Congress ruling party to root out corruption and return to the values of its past. More than 3, 500 delegates attended the gathering.
