The Secretariat is administered by a director, working in tandem with an editor. The editorial operations is currently from 7am to midnight daily seven days a week. Its ICT team comprises a web-master and a photo-web administrator.

The director reports directly to the General Manager and the Editor-in-Chief  of Bernama, the national news agency of Malaysia, on all matters.

The Bernama general manager heads a management committee  of the NNN which in turn reports periodically to the NNN  Supervisory Council. The Secretary-General of the Ministry of Information, Communications and Culture, Malaysia chairs the council.

The other Council members are the Deputy Secretary-General of the Ministry, a representative of the Foreign Affairs Ministry, Malaysia, a representative of the Institute of Strategic and International Studies (ISIS), Malaysia, the Bernama General Manager and the NNN director.

Occasionally when the Lower House of the Malaysian Parliament is in session, the Bernama General Manager also prepares replies to both oral and written questions on the NNN raised by Members of Parliament.
