'CREATE HOPE FOR THE PALESTINIANS'. Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) should create hope in the hearts of the oppressed people of Palestine by supporting them. He conveyed this on Oct 17, 2009 in Tehran to visiting President Abdullah Wade (picture, centre) of Senegal, the current chair of the OIC. Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said the goal of the OIC is to follow up on the Palestinian issue. The oppressed people of Palestine are really in need of a strong, appropriate and organised movement in Islam, the Iranian Supreme Leader said. On Iran-Senegal relations, both Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and President Abdullah Wade expressed satisfaction with the expansion of industrial, commercial and economic bilateral ties between the two countries. Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (left) was also present during their meeting.-- Photo and adapted text courtesy of Isna
