ADDIS ABABA, Sept 15 (NNN-ENA) -- The Ethiopian government will organize forums on the issues related to global climate change for the public in various parts of the country from Sept 29 until Nov 28, says Minister of State for Agriculture and Rural Development Dr. Abera Deressa.
The forums will be organized in Oromia, Amhara, Tigray and South Ethiopia Peoples' States to gather public feedback on the challenges and solution to problems associated with global climate change, he said here Monday.
The minister was speaking at a joint briefing he gave with the General Manager of the National Meteorological Agency, Kidane Assefa, and the Deputy Director General of the Environment Protection Authority, Desalegn Mesfin.
The feedback will provide the input for the government when it attends the Climate Change Summit to be held in Copenhagen, Denmark, in December. Similar events will be organized in many African, Asian, and Latin American countries.
Regional administration heads, prominent personalities, pastoralists, farmers, governmental and non-governmental organizations, and international organizations, among others, will be invited to attend the forums.
The national climate change forums are also being held to create awareness among the public on global climate change, which has become a threat for Ethiopia. -- NNN-ENA |
