LIMA, Feb 15 (NNN-ANDINA) - Colombia was the main market of Peruvian chocolate exports last year followed by Venezuela, Ecuador and Bolivia, reported Peruvian Exporters Association (Adex).
Colombia imported chocolates worth US$3.32 million, an increase of eight percent in relation to 2008 and it represented 38 percent of total exports.
While Venezuela imported US$1.82 million representing 23 percent of total sales.
Other countries were the United States (US$296,000), Chile (US$196,000), Costa Rica and Canada, among others.
The new market was China with imports worth US$61,000. A total of 30 countries imported Peruvian chocolates.
Adex said last year Peru exported US$7.99 million in chocolates, which represented a fall of 8 percent in relation of the figure registered in 2008 (US$8.71 million). -- NNN-ANDINA
