CUBA HOSTS CARIBBEAN DANCE FESTIVAL IN MARCH

HAVANA, Feb 8 (NNN-PRENSA LATINA) - Dancers from Latin America, Europe and Africa will participate in the Second Dance Biennial of the Caribbean here from March 23 to 28.

Sponsored by the National Council of Performing Arts, the exhibition cum contest will have artists from companies in Argentina, Mexico, Ecuador, Uruguay, Brazil, Colombia, Martinique, Guyana, St. Martin, France, Mali, South Africa and Cuba as host country perfom.

In the category of group performances there will be five plays - among them A Selected Piece of the Brazilian company, Coliflor, Echos of the Colombian group La Prenda and ATP of Uruguayan group Tamara Cubas.

About nine uni-personal performances for the award in solos, there will be choreography from Haiti in Questions, of Jean-Aurel Maurice of St. Martin, Oruyo So of Julie Adami from Guyana and Shagaa of Helene Cathala from France.

The exhibition AfricaDanzAfrica, by US-French photographer Antoine Tempe and the forum Ways to be Caribbean are included in the collateral programme, plus performances, master classes and workshops.

The theater Mella in the capital and the Cultural Center Bertold Brecht will be the main venues for the event.

The Dance Biennial of the Caribbean will also pay tribute to the prima ballerina Alicia Alonso. -- NNN-PRENSA LATINA
