MONTEVIDEO, Jan 8 (NNN-PRENSA LATINA) - The Uruguayan Foreign Minister Pedro Vaz ratified the country's confidence in the Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR) as an organisation of integration and a platform to launch products abroad.
However, he said that it was important to make progress on the internal regulations in order to improve the organisation founded by Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay and Paraguay in 1991.
Venezuela will also join, which will be a complementary factor to the organisation.
The organisation held a summit in Dec last year in this country and taking part take were the Bolivian, Chilean, Colombian, Ecuadorian, Peruvian heads of states and associated country delegates. On that occasion Uruguay gave the temporary chairmanship to Argentina.
He said "MERCOSUR was in a constant negotiation process and there are many aspects to be developed. It is necessary to provide member equal terms to use the opportunities that the mechanism offers, he said.
The Minister also pointed out that Uruguay is waiting for the International Court of Justice's decision about its dispute with Argentina regarding to the installation of a paper mill in Uruguay by the side of a bordering river. -- NNN-PRENSA LATINA
