NEW DELHI, Dec. 2 (NNN-Xinhua) -- India and Bangladesh Wednesday finalized three major bilateral treaties, including a prisoner swap pact, to be signed when the prime minister of the neighboring nation visits New Delhi later this month.
Sources said that the drafts of the three key pacts were finalized in a meeting between the Home Secretaries of the two countries in the Indian national capital.
The treaties are the Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters, the Transfer of Sentenced Persons and Bilateral Agreement on Combating International Terrorism, Organized Crime and Illicit Drug Trafficking.
After the meeting, Indian Home Secretary G.K. Pillai told the media that "both sides condemn terrorism in all its forms and manifestations and reaffirmed their commitment not to allow the use of territory of either country for any activity inimical to each other's interests."
Added Bangladesh Home Secretary Abdus Sobhan Sikder: "Both sides agreed to develop mechanisms to further hasten the process of verification of nationality status of prisoners lodged in jails of either country, particularly of those who have completed their sentence, to enable their early repatriation." -- NNN-XINHUA
