WASHINGTON, Dec 7 (NNN-GNA) — Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States, Victor Emmanuel Smith, has reaffirmed the country’s commitment to attracting American investment as the Embassy hosted the maiden “Investing in Ghana Business Forum” in Washington, DC,
The forum brought together US business leaders, investors and policy stakeholders for a high-level dialogue on Ghana’s investment climate, economic priorities, and emerging opportunities across key sectors.
Held at Norton Rose Fulbright the event featured top government officials including the Minister of Agriculture, the Minister of Energy, the Deputy CEO of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) and the Minister of Tourism, who joined virtually.
A Q&A session provided participants with the opportunity to engage Ghanaian policymakers directly on trade, regulations and sector-specific partnerships.
Ambassador Smith used the platform to highlight gains made under the administration of President John Dramani Mahama, stressing that Ghana’s economic reforms are geared toward expanding private sector growth and enhancing the ease of doing business.
“Ghana remains open, stable, and ready for business,” he said.
“We have made significant progress, and we encourage American partners to take advantage of the opportunities emerging across our economy.”
The forum explored potential collaborations in agriculture, energy, tourism, digital technology, infrastructure and the service sector.
Embassy officials noted that the initiative is part of a broader strategy to deepen economic diplomacy and strengthen Ghana’s engagement with the US private sector and diaspora.
Many attendees praised the Embassy for convening the session and called for the forum to be replicated in other US states, especially in regions with strong commercial and diaspora networks.
Participants argued that expanding the platform would help drive more investor interest and open new pathways for trade and enterprise development.
The Embassy says the Washington edition marks the beginning of a renewed effort to position Ghana as one of West Africa’s most reliable destinations for investment, partnership and sustainable economic expansion. — NNN-GNA
