BUCHAREST, Nov 29 (NNN-PRENSA LATINA) — Romania’s Defense Minister Ionut Mosteanu resigned Thursday, five months after taking office, following a scandal related to the forgering of his curriculum Vitae.
His CV included studies at a private university in the capital, which the institution itself denied, according to the local press.
Mosteanu posted on his Facebook profile a letter of resignation in which he based his decision on the need for the country to focus its efforts on the challenges ahead.

The scandal surrounding him erupted on the eve after the Romanian tabloid Libertatea published a report on Mosteanu’s irregularities in his curriculum, including a university degree, Essential for positions of importance in the Ministry of Transport and on the boards of several companies.
Ilie Bolojan, prime minister of Romania, thanked in a statement to Mosteanu, who will also leave his post as Deputy Prime Minister, for his work these five months.
